aiEDU and Quill.org to launch full-year AI literacy curriculum for classrooms nationwide

The AI Education Project (aiEDU) and Quill.org are expanding their partnership to deliver a full-year AI literacy curriculum to K–12 schools across the country. The effort is backed by a $400,000 renewal grant from the Patrick J. McGovern Foundation.

The new curriculum will include 21 instructional modules designed for weekly use during the 2025–2026 school year. The materials will integrate AI literacy into existing literacy and STEM instruction for students in grades 8–12.

Quill’s Reading for Evidence platform and aiEDU’s AI Snapshots curriculum will form the foundation of the expanded program. The organizations are also using generative AI tools internally to develop, test, and iterate on lesson content more quickly.

Alex Kotran, co-founder and CEO of aiEDU, said the partnership allows both organizations to reach more students and educators at scale.

“Truly preparing every student for a world where AI is everywhere means we can’t go it alone,” Kotran said. “By integrating our curricula with Quill’s millions-strong user base, we can equip teachers with turnkey resources that make AI literacy as accessible as checking out a library book — and just as essential.”

Added Peter Gault, founder and Executive Director of Quill.org: “Every student — no matter their zip code — deserves the skills to question, create, and thrive with AI,” said Peter Gault, Founder and Executive Director of Quill.org. “The McGovern Foundation’s investment lets us finish the job: a full year of engaging, standards-aligned lessons that pair Quill’s real-time writing feedback with aiEDU’s hands-on explorations of how AI shapes our world.”

As part of the grant, Quill and aiEDU will pilot the curriculum in a range of classroom settings, gather data on student engagement and outcomes, and publish case studies. A white paper and a series of public webinars are planned to share findings with the broader education field.

This is the second year the McGovern Foundation has supported the project.
